Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Walther PDP a good gun?
Absolutely. As an FFL who’s handled thousands of handguns, the PDP series represents some of the best striker-fired designs available today. The Pro SD Compact improves on an already excellent platform with competition-ready features while maintaining reliability for defensive use.
How does the PDP Compact compare to full-size models?
The Compact maintains nearly all the performance of the full-size PDP in a more carry-friendly package. You lose about 0.8″ of barrel length and 2 rounds of magazine capacity, but gain better concealment without sacrificing shootability.
What optics fit the PDP Pro SD Compact?
The slide is cut for: Trijicon RMR/SRO, Holosun 407C/507C/508T, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and similar footprints. Many optics mount directly without plates – we include the appropriate screws.
Does it come with night sights?
The Pro SD model includes high-visibility suppressor-height sights, but they’re not tritium night sights. Many customers upgrade to night sights if carrying defensively.
Where can I buy a Walther PDP Pro SD Compact online?
Kansas Gunshop (kansas-gunshop.com) has them in stock and ready to ship to your local FFL. We’re an authorized Walther dealer with competitive pricing.
What holsters fit this model?
Most PDP Compact holsters will work, but verify compatibility with the threaded barrel. We recommend T1C, Trex Arms, or Black Arch for this configuration.
Is the trigger upgrade worth it over standard PDP?
For competition or serious shooters, yes. The Performance Duty Trigger reduces pull weight by about 1 lb and shortens reset significantly. For casual range use, the standard PDP trigger is already excellent.
