Frequently Asked Questions | Kansas Gun Shop

1. How do Kansas FFL transfers work?

If you purchase a firearm from us, we will transfer it to your chosen Kansas FFL dealer (or use ours if you pick up in-store). For incoming transfers from another seller, you must ship to our FFL. We charge a $25 transfer fee for firearms, plus applicable background check fees. Contact us before shipping to confirm we can accept the transfer.

2. Can you ship firearms to Kansas residents?

Yes, we ship firearms to Kansas residents via a licensed FFL dealer in your area. We do not ship directly to your home. Ammunition and accessories can be shipped to your residential address, subject to age and ID verification.

3. What are the age requirements to buy a firearm or ammo?

You must be 18 to purchase a rifle or shotgun, and 21 to purchase a handgun or any firearm from a licensed dealer. For ammunition, you must be 18 for rifle/shotgun ammo and 21 for handgun ammo. All buyers must pass a NICS background check.

4. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and debit cards. We also accept cash or certified checks for in-store purchases. We do not accept PayPal, Venmo, or cryptocurrency.

5. What is your return policy for firearms?

All firearm sales are final. We inspect every gun before shipping. If you receive a firearm with a manufacturer defect, we will help you file a warranty claim with the manufacturer. We do not accept returns for change of mind or cosmetic issues.

6. What about returns for accessories and ammunition?

Accessories (scopes, holsters, grips, etc.) may be returned within 30 days of purchase if unused and in original packaging. A 15% restocking fee applies. Ammunition sales are final due to safety regulations. Defective ammo must be handled through the manufacturer.

7. How does the NICS background check work?

When you buy a firearm, we submit your information to the FBI’s NICS system. You’ll receive a proceed, delay, or denial. Most checks are instant. If delayed, we must wait up to 3 business days (or until a proceed is received) before completing the transfer. Denials are final and we cannot refund the firearm cost (we will refund less a 20% restocking fee).

8. How long does order processing take?

In-stock items typically ship within 1-3 business days after payment clears. Firearms require additional time for FFL verification and NICS check. Custom orders or backordered items may take 2-6 weeks. We’ll notify you of any delays.

9. Do you accept out-of-state orders?

Yes, but we only ship firearms to FFL dealers in the buyer’s state of residence. Ammunition and accessories can ship to your address if legal in your state. You are responsible for knowing your local laws. We do not ship to restricted states (e.g., California, New York, Illinois, etc.) without prior approval.

10. What if my order arrives damaged?

Inspect your package immediately. If damaged, refuse delivery or note the damage with the carrier. Contact us within 48 hours with photos. We will file a claim with the carrier and arrange a replacement or refund. We do not cover damage caused by improper storage after delivery.

11. How do I file a warranty claim?

Most manufacturers offer a warranty. Contact us with your order number and issue. We will provide the manufacturer’s contact info and RMA process. We do not handle warranty repairs in-house but will assist with documentation. Shipping costs for warranty work are typically the customer’s responsibility unless the manufacturer covers them.

12. What are my pickup options?

You can pick up your order at our shop in Wichita, Kansas, during business hours (Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 10am-4pm). Bring a valid government-issued ID. For firearms, we will complete the NICS check on-site. If you choose in-store pickup, we do not charge a transfer fee. Orders must be picked up within 14 days or we may cancel and refund less a 10% fee.
